Kelli L. Sager is a prominent media and entertainment lawyer with more than 27 years of experience representing television, radio, cable and Internet companies, motion picture producers and distributors, newspapers, magazines and book authors, from the trial level to the appellate level of federal and state courts. In her lecture, Sager will address the evolution of common law and statutory misappropriation rights, with a particular focus on claims based on expressive works and the threat that such claims pose to the exercise of First Amendment rights.
The Raymond Pryke First Amendment Law Lecture was created to solidify UC Irvine School of Law’s teaching and research in First Amendment and Media Law, and to address the pressing First Amendment issues of the day, including the role of a free press in preserving democratic society.
