"Human Rights Litigation in State Courts and Under State Law" is a one-day symposium that will bring together leading practitioners and scholars to discuss human rights litigation in state courts and under state law, as an alternative to human rights litigation in U.S. federal courts (for example, under the Alien Tort Statute). Among other issues, participants will discuss important and difficult issues of federalism, foreign relations, jurisdiction, choice of law, extraterritoriality and litigation strategy that are raised by human rights litigation in state courts.
