LAW 530 SEC 1 - Employment Discrimination Law

Through the lens of a career practitioner, the course examines federal and state laws prohibiting discrimination and harassment in employment based on race, religion, national origin, gender, gender-identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, and other protected statuses. The course will focus on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, with a discussion of California law, the ADA, and ADEA.

In addition to covering the doctrine, theory, and history of anti-discrimination law, the course studies the procedure for litigating such cases and the lawyer s role in counseling clients about compliance.
